Carifta at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium given the go-ahead by the Government of the Bahamas prior to the event.

The Rt.Hon.Perry G.Christie,Prime Minister, brought his Cabinet to visit and tour the TAR National Stadium, hosted by Dr.Hon.Daniel Johnson,Minister of Youth,Sports and Culture;prior to this historic Carifta event. The members of government along with Party Stalwarts were taken through the Stadium and thoroughly briefed on the Plans for Carifta 13 and the improvements made, since the initial soft opening.
It was obvious, that considerable funds had to be spent,to upgrade the Stadium and all concerns were addressed .
Bahamians have the opportunity to view a greatly improved product and a Stadium in which they can be proud. The National Stadium, named after athletic great,Thomas Augustus Robinson, was shaping up to be,everything that the Rt.Hon.Prime Minister had sought from the Chinese from the very beginning. Kudos must also be paid to former Minister Neville Wisdom who negotiated with the Chinese to get all that we got.

The Carifta Games started off with a bang, and now history has recorded what many had hoped to see, the first official event at the new Stadium.

Welcome to the Caribbean and ‘Let the Games Begin’!
