BAHAMAS LAW ENFORCEMENT SPORTS CHALLENGE*, April 24th – 28th, 2013

INVITATION:

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to personally extend an invitation to all eligible* to participate in our Second Annual Bahamas Law Enforcement Sports Challenge, from April 24th – 28th, 2013, Nassau, Bahamas. Events scheduled for the Sports Challenge include basketball, track & field, billiards/pool, tug of war, karate, golf, fishing, volleyball, flag football, swimming, volleyball, soccer and softball, bowling.

We are extending official invitations to Members of the Police, Fire, Customs, Immigration, Prison, Military and other Security forces from the Caribbean, the United States of America, Canada, South and Central America, the U.K. and Europe. Our goal is to provide a friendly, safe and affordable venue for Law Enforcement, Military and Security Officers from around the world to compete fiercely among themselves, while building a solid foundation for closer collaboration in the future.

To encourage maximum participation, we are, with the assistance of our Ministry of Tourism, securing
attractive rates for hotel and airfares into Nassau and Paradise Island. We have also put in place a modest $150.00 (per athlete) Registration Fee. Register before March 15th for $100.00. This includes access to and/or participation in all sporting disciplines (excluding golf and fishing), Round-trip ground transportation to hotel from airport, Cocktail Reception, Official T-shirt and Certificate of Participation,

This 5-day event is enthusiastically embraced by the local communities, the law enforcement athletes and has garnered the support of The Bahamas Ministries of National Security, Youth Sports and Culture, Education, The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, the Florida Police & Fire Games, Bahamasair, Bahamas Celebration Cruise Line, and other sponsors and travel and hotel partners. RULES AND ELIGIBILITY
ELIGIBILITY: All full-time sworn law enforcement, full-time certified correctional officers, retired-sworn law enforcement, retired-correctional officers, retired firefighters, Military, active, retired and full time reserves and National Guard, Homeland Security, CIA, Reservist I from municipality, county, federal, or state agencies or any volunteer or paid full-time professional firefighter, who has not been convicted of a felony, are eligible to participate. Those who CANNOT participate are: Persons employed as security guards, police students, police cadets and anyone convicted of a felony.

FEMALE ELIGIBILITY RULE: All female civilians who work full-time at police, fire and military agencies may compete on teams and all sports offered representing their respective agency (not in a guest status).

GUESTS: A person can enter as a guest if they have not been convicted of a felony and have received permission from a board member by calling 1(242)427-0037 or email info@bahamaslawgames.org. Guests would include people from the following categories: Civilian employees (females – see above rule), Reservist II, auxiliary police and public service aides. Guests may only compete in the following sports: poker, bench press, bowling, pistol, cross country run, cycling, half marathon, powerlifting, swimming (no relays), ten-k road race, toughest competitor alive, and triathlon. In the event guests are allowed to compete, medals will be awarded.

AGE INFORMATION: Check the appropriate age on the application form. Your age is determined in accordance to the first day of BLESC competition (March 21st). You may not compete in two or more different age categories for the same event. The youngest member of your team (doubles/relay) indicates the age division you must sign up for. Individual sports age brackets: Men: 18-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60+. Women: 18-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-49, and 50+

SUBSTITUTIONS: The team coach is the only person permitted to make a substitution for the team. Substitutions CANNOT be made from one roster to another in the same sport. Substitutions are made at the host hotel registration site by an executive board member.
